Australia, with its modest Jewish population,was a haven for more than 35,000 holocaust refugees. Only Israel gained a greater percentage of Holocaust survivors.

About 200 more permits issued by 1948 – but not clear if these were part of NZ’s displaced person’s quota or in addition to it."
