Australian Jewish Historical Society Inc [NSW] Archives/Library

The Australian Jewish Historical Society Inc maintains records in airconditioned rooms inside Mandelbaum House, the Jewish residential college at the University of Sydney. These records cover all states of Australia. Notable records include the Birth, Death and Marriage registers of the Great Synagogue Sydney 1826 to 1980, annual reports of synagogues from 1841, and certain records dating from 1788.

Opening Hours and Access: Open Tues and Thurs 10:30am-4:30pm by appointment; closed public and Jewish holidays
Search Fees: Free for (unaided) personal searches, otherwise fees of $30+ apply.
Other facilities: B&W photocopying up to A3 as well as prints from microfilms available for a fee.
Back copies of the journal, as well as special publications of the AJHS available for purchase.
Library Use: This is strictly a reference library. Reading facilities available. No borrowing permitted.
Special Details: The staff are all volunteers. Booking attendance in advance is necessary. The library is airconditioned, situated about 2km from Sydney Central Railway Station.
